A fresh Nintendo Direct was presented yesterday (you can read the most comprehensive summary here), with big surprises, new trailers, and Nintendo Switch title release dates disclosed.
Splatoon 3 was present at the Direct, as predicted. The new version of Nintendo's IP shooter has been confirmed for release this summer... but no other details have been revealed.
It's great to see the Fish Run Next Wave mode return in Splatoon 3, which will allow us to form four-player teams to take on the hordes of hostile salmon.
The truth is that this teaser contains a hint concerning Splatoon 3's release date. It was discovered by a group of fans and shared on Reddit... and the game has a particular release date.
These players uncovered a hidden QR code in the games beyond the window for " July 2022." Specifically, at the 0:55 mark of the trailer's entire runtime of 2:34 minutes.
These players, as well as other media (through GamesRadar), make it possible to scan the hidden QR code. This yields the following date: August 18, 2022. It was a very wonderful surprise.
We verified that the QR exists and that it does indeed disclose the stated date after running the necessary checks. We're not sure if he's talking to the release of Splatoon 3, but he's most likely referring to the summer window.
This information has not been confirmed by Nintendo. We'd like to remind you that this QR code may be found 55 seconds into the Salmon Run Next Wave game, which you can see in the video above. To say the least, I'm intrigued... and skeptical.
Splatoon 3 is without a doubt one of the best Switch exclusives for 2022, regardless of the reported release date. The aforementioned game option was already present in Splatoon 2 and was one of the players' favorites.
