The Elden Ring is linked to Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Armored Core through a well-known NPC. Is it possible that we're already talking about something called FromSoftwareverso?

Elden Ring may not resemble Dark Souls in appearance, but it is a whole different story and lore as far as we know. But that doesn't rule out the possibility that they are linked in some way.

Needless to say, any of these potentially contain FromSoftware game spoilers. So, if you're planning on playing their games in the future, proceed at your own risk.

According to Kotaku, a recent Red Bull-sponsored preview brought together numerous Twitch stars to play a little Elden Ring before of the game's release.

And that, in turn, has led to the revelation that Elden Ring will feature a character named Patches. In this session, Spanish streamer ChusoMMontero got face to face with him, and something happened.

After dismissing him with some opening words, he apparently opened a treasure chest, prompting the character to approach him.

Chuso can't seem to beat Patches; he keeps saying, "He's strong," and the player is caught off guard. But, before he does that, he lets us see a little of Patches' mini-boss in action.

Fans of FromSoftware, particularly their Souls games, will recognize this face. The character was already in as Patch the Good Luck when Armored Core: For Answer released in 2008; see video below.

He was a faceless adversary pilot who fired from the air and never engaged in a face-to-face confrontation. The majority of players, however, met him the following year in Demon's Souls.

Patches the Hyena is his name, and he is a cowardly NPC who has led the player into traps twice, expecting him to die and admire the carcass. If you run away, he apologizes, and if you let him live, he starts up business in the game's center region.

Numerous people were unhappy with his alterations in the PS5 remake, as he was one of the game's many modified faces. Did you let him live or did you kill him on the new console?

"Trusty" Patches first appeared in Dark Souls in 2011, spawning in various locations depending on the player's progress. He leads to 'treasures' waiting for the character to die and opening up business if you spare his life, same like in Demon's.

In Bloodborne on PS4, you'll meet a character named Patches the Spider, who is a spider-themed character. He comes behind locked doors at first, undetected, and gives vital objects to proceed.

He also stabs you in the back in the Lovecraftian game, though he kicks you instead. If we reach a certain spot, a cutscene will start and you will be thrown off a cliff; this is usual in this game.

However, "Unbreakable" Patches in Dark Souls 3 from 2016 provide the secret to his character. He sets you up with a series of challenges once more, and he has the ability to steal Siegward's armor and identity from Catarina.

Another video where you can see all of this in action can be found here. Patches are similar to Patches in Dark Souls 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, however they don't have the same name.

There are various characters in these, such as Affable Pate, who appears pleasant at first but later turns deceptive and greedy; in Sekiro Anayama, the peddler may be considered a substitute because he was a thief turned trader.

They aren't exact replicas of the genuine Patches, but they might serve the same purpose. In a 2011 interview, Miyazaki appears to have stated that every game he creates has a Patch.

As you can see by the comments, this is from the PlayStation 2 period. The character also appeared in the FromSoftware game Shadow Tower Abyss, which reinforces this same notion.

What are your thoughts on the matter of patches, their appearance in the Souls saga games, and in this FromSoftwareverse?
