The young actor is filling in for Noah Centineo, who was the original pick to play He-Man but dropped out of the project.
It's been rumored for years, but it appears like the film that will bring He-Man and the Masters of the Universe back to the big screen will never see the light of day. After being postponed until 2021 due to pre-production issues, it lost its main actor in the same year: Noah Centineo, the star of Netflix's teen films.
However, this appears to be a solved problem because, as the streaming site has stated, they already have the actor who will play the prince of Eternia, Kyle Allen, who we recently saw in Steven Spielberg's new version of West Side Story as well as in American Horror Story Double Feature.
Following in the footsteps of Centineo, for whom it is unknown why he left the project, Allen does not exceed the age of 26, though we will have to wait to see how old they are when the film about the Masters of the Universe, which has been in development for more than ten years, is released on Netflix.
"We've always been inspired by the wonderful land of Eternia; this film has been in the works for 14 years, and it's really exciting for us and our collaborators to present a brand new story of the Masters of the Universe," said Todd Black, one of the tape's producers, while Mattel's Robbie Brener added:
"Masters of the Universe is a beloved franchise that has captured the hearts and minds of a generation of kids with its theme of "be the best version of yourself." We want to show what happens in Eternia with Netflix in order to continue breaking new ground in this worldwide franchise. In this live-action version, we can't wait to witness Kyle fight Skeletor."
This He-Man film is just one of many that Netflix is currently working on with this property, and we've already seen the animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation and the other CGI series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, both of which are aimed at a younger audience. Both films will be released in 2021.
