Animal Crossing New Horizons is without a doubt one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch, as well as a social phenomenon that is still very much alive today. It will be two years since its inception in March of next year.

Indeed, update 2.04 is now live... and dataminers have discovered an intriguing innovation for the title (via AC World): Chinese horoscope statues. And possibly anything else.

We don't know how many years it will be before we see a new Animal Crossing installment. This new discovery can be used as a probe balloon to calibrate the Switch title's future roadmap.

A total of 11 statues have been uncovered, each of which represents an animal from the Chinese zodiac. You're probably aware that each of these creatures symbolizes the start of the Chinese New Year.

The tiger statue (in celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Tiger) has already been introduced to Animal Crossing New Horizons and will be available from December 22 until January 5, 2022.

Each of these statues costs 1600 berries and may be purchased via TeleNook and mailed to our Animal Crossing residence. But there's more to this novelty than meets the eye...

According to the update data, Nintendo intends to release a Chinese horoscope statue every year, thus the rabbit statue will appear in December 2022... and so on.

The following are the 11 statues, along with their respective dates:

  • Tiger figure: December 2021 - January 2022
  • Rabbit figure: December 2022 - January 2023
  • Dragon figure: December 2023 - January 2024
  • Snake Figure: December 2024 - January 2025
  • Horse figure: December 2025 - January 2026
  • Sheep figure: December 2026 - January 2027
  • Monkey figure: December 2027 - January 2028
  • Rooster figure: December 2028 - January 2029
  • Dog figure: December 2029 - January 2030
  • Wild boar figure: December 2030 - January 2031
  • Pig figure: December 2030 - January 2031
  • Rat Figure: December 2031 - January 2032
  • Ox Figure: December 2032 - January 2033

Sure, it makes us think of one thing. If a statue will be sent every December, does this mean that Animal Crossing New Horizons has another 11 years to go?

It would, without a doubt, be a true atrocity if confirmed. And it is that a game released in 2020 would have a projected roadmap through January 2033 (a total of 13 years). Of course, for the time being, it is all speculative.

What is certain is that the tiger statue will be available for purchase in Animal Crossing New Horizons beginning December 22. Will you purchase the 11 statues? Or, to put it another way, will you be playing the title for the next 11 years?
