Neo or John Wick should not appear in Mortal Kombat, according to Keanu Reeves.

The actor, whose film Matrix Resurrections will be released in theaters next month, has stated that he would prefer that such a crossover never take place.

Neo or John Wick should not appear in Mortal Kombat, according to Keanu Reeves.

Mortal Kombat has gotten a succession of very exquisite guest characters in recent releases, allowing us to enjoy such unexpected and startling crossovers between licenses as RoboCop, Rambo, Spawn, or Terminator, to mention a few instances.

As is common in similar situations, many fans have begun to speculate about future collaborations that they would like to see in the saga's further installments, with names like Neo from The Matrix and John Wick himself cropping up frequently. However, as Keanu Reeves previously revealed in an interview with Esquire, he does not want these two action film heroes to meet face to face with Scorpion and his crew.

An unexpected partnership

"This partnership would never happen if it were up to me," Reeves remarked. "Mortal Kombat is incredible in a variety of ways. But, you know, Neo... John Wick... I think they're different."

It's worth noting that both Mortal Kombat and The Matrix are Warner Bros. properties, so a crossover like this shouldn't be too tough, however given Reeves' comments, it's unlikely that we'll never see Neo do fatalities. Things are even more unlikely with John Wick, whose rights are owned by Lionsgate.

Finally, we'd like to remind you that Ed Boon, NetherRealm's CEO, stated in 2019 that he would have wanted to see the two Reeves characters in Mortal Kombat 11, though he never explained why the crossover didn't happen.

The Matrix Resurrections will see Neo return.

Although it appears that we will be without Neo in Mortal Kombat, we will have the opportunity to see him in action on the big screen when Matrix Resurrections premieres on December 22 in all Spanish theaters.
