Another Eden mobile game has teamed up with Chrono Cross

There have been speculations of a remake or remastering of Chrono Cross, the PlayStation sequel to Chrono Trigger that was launched in 1999 but never made it to Europe. Something new has surfaced in the last few hours that adds to the credibility of this information: references to a Chrono Cross collaboration event have been discovered in the files of the free JRPG Another Eden.

The user "aceofivalia" posted his discovery in the game files on the subreddit dedicated to the global community of Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space. "WFS [developers] appear to have messed up and incorporated some future stuff, one of which is a new partnership. The file names also make it clear what the partnership is about. It's a game called Chrono Cross."

Characters such as Lucca, Serge, Kid, and Harle are mentioned in the files. "aceofivalia" claims that the collaboration's plot will revolve around planets and alternative timelines, which will be combined in with the primary story of Another Eden.

Another Eden was created by the Chrono saga's authors.

Despite receiving positive reviews upon its release in 2019, the JRPG Free Wright Flyer Studios is not particularly well-known in the West (in Japan has been available since April 2017). A global version for PC (Steam) was released in March of this year, and a Switch edition is in the works.

If possible, the names behind the title lend even more credence to the remake allegations. Masato Kato is the director and screenwriter, and Yasunori Mitsuda is one of the composers. Both are Japanese artists who have worked on the Chrono series and Xenogears, among other projects.

The XboxEra podcast's insider Spheshal Nick advanced the rumored existence of Chrono Cross Remastered, noting out that it is the "excellent remake" of PlayStation that the singer AVA revealed in October. The title will be revealed this month, and unless anything unexpected happens, the year will end with The Game Awards 2021, which will take place on December 10 from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Spanish peninsular time.
